This Lambertville bedroom renovation offered several unique opportunities for meaningful historic restoration. The homeowner’s primary concerns were the room’s draftiness and limited usable space. To address these, we carefully dismantled the existing brickwork to insulate behind it, then meticulously reassembled the wall using historically accurate lime putty mortar—ensuring the preservation of the soft, antique brick.

To celebrate the home’s original structure, we selectively applied a breathable lime plaster that reveals the interplay of brick and timber, adding warmth, depth, and texture to the wall surfaces. A custom built-in provided essential functionality, and we were honored to incorporate solid cherry hardwood passed down from our client’s father. The live edges and rich tone of the wood bring warmth and character to the space, harmonizing beautifully with the natural materials throughout the room.

The renovation was completed with natural wool carpeting and custom curtains—finishing touches that lend softness and cohesion to this intimate, restorative space.
